It all started here. Sheene and racer Gordon Keith, winner

of the 1964 Manx Lightweight Grand Prix, pictured by Nick Nicholls at a Brands Hatch practice day on 17 February 1968 - two weeks before Sheene made his race debut at the Kent circuit on Saturday 2 March. Barry, 17, was there that February day to gently run in the engines of two Bultacos his father Frank had tuned for the coming season. Barry returned the following week to complete the job and went so well he ended up racing them. At the time, Frank was the famous Sheene because of his tuning talent and it was the bikes not the young rider, that made the picture newsworthy. (You tube)
